The TryToAct wardrobe: customize your character
Skins, eyes, mouths, mics, gloves, emotes and entrances: the wardrobe lets you build a character that looks like you, then show it off to everyone in the lobby. Here's everything it contains and how to unlock each item.
What is the wardrobe?
On TryToAct, you dub your favorite scenes with a little mascot: a movie clapperboard on legs, with gloves and a mic. In the online lobby, it's what represents you in front of the other players. The wardrobe is where you choose its look.
Color, outfit, eyes, smile, mic, gloves, emotes and entrances: it's all set in one place, with a 3D preview of your character that updates live with every click. And it's purely about style: no cosmetic gives you an advantage in game. Your score always depends on your voice, not your outfit.
How do you open the wardrobe?
The wardrobe is available from your profile at the top of the screen: click your coin counter, or open your profile menu and choose the wardrobe. It opens full screen, with your character on its podium on the left and the catalog on the right. On mobile, the preview moves to the top and the catalog scrolls underneath.
You can browse the whole catalog without an account. But to equip a look, unlock an item or earn coins, you need to be signed in: your style is saved to your account and follows you on all your devices.
The wardrobe's 5 sections
The catalog is organized into five tabs. Click an item to see it on your character.
Skins: color and outfit
The skin is your mascot's body. Four colors are free for everyone: Classic (the original purple), Blue, Green and Red. The ten others are unlocked with coins and go well beyond a simple color:
• Clown: a frilly ruff and pompoms on cream fabric.
• Cardboard: kraft board with packing tape and a FRAGILE stamp.
• Prisoner: black and white stripes, for bad-guy roles.
• Chrome: a mirror finish that reflects the whole room.
• Rainbow, Galaxy: so you can't go unnoticed in the lobby.
• Suit: charcoal fabric, shirt and bow tie. The awards-night look.
• Naked: just a fig leaf. We'll let you be the judge.
• Diver: swim cap, diving mask, fins and not much else.
• Gilded: solid, polished gold, the rarest skin in the regular catalog.
Seasonal collections also show up from time to time, in their own section with a countdown: once it runs out, they leave the shop.
Expressions: eyes and mouth
Your character has a real actor's face, and you choose which one. For the eyes, all nine styles are free: Classic, Wide-eyed, Side-eye, Drowsy, Tiny, Happy, Half-closed, Flowers and Starry (or no eyes at all). For the mouth: Smile, Sad, Shocked, Vampire, Smirk, or no mouth at all. Only the Grillz, a row of gold teeth, is unlocked with coins.
Mix and match: side-eye with a smirk for the villain role, starry eyes with a big smile for the star of the lobby.
Accessories: mic and gloves
The mic appears in your character's hand when it records a line. The Classic one is free, and you can upgrade to Neon, Retro or Gold. The gloves are always visible: Classic (white, free), Black or Gold.
Emotes: the wheel and the victory animation
Emotes are short animations your character plays in front of everyone. Wave is free, and sixteen others can be unlocked: Crane Stance, Dance, Floss, Scared, Moneyspread, Middle Finger, Loser, Money Gun, Six Seven, Stinky, Faceplant, Flex, Brawl, Twerk, Push-ups and Monster.
You can put up to 8 emotes on your wheel. In an online game, press E to open the wheel (or tap the emote button on mobile), then pick an emote, or press 1 to 8 on your keyboard directly. The wheel works in the lobby and during the downtime of a co-op game, while another player records their line: everyone sees your character dance, with your name shown.
In the same tab, you also choose your victory animation: tap the crown on an equipped emote, and that's the one your character plays when it steps onto the podium, on the leaderboard as well as at the end of a versus game.
Entrances: make an entrance when you win
The last tab is all about style when you win: an entrance played by your character at the victory ceremony. Five are available: Delivery, Superhero, Magic Trick, UFO and Meteor.

How do you earn coins?
Coins are earned first and foremost by playing. You don't need to get your card out to have a great-looking character:
• Every finished game earns 5 to 15 coins depending on the pack length, solo or multiplayer.
• Your first game of the day gives you a 5-coin bonus.
• Daily quests (record lines, finish packs, play with others, publish a dub…) each earn 5 to 10 coins.
And there's one reward that costs no coins at all: play 7 days in a row and you pick a free emote from the ones you don't have yet. Your streak counter is shown right in the wardrobe.
If you want to go faster, you can also buy coins by clicking the "+" next to your balance: 350 coins for $2.99, 650 for $4.99, 1,400 for $9.99 or 3,000 for $19.99 (£2.49, £4.49, £8.99 and £17.99 in the UK; €2.99, €4.99, €9.99 and €19.99 in Europe).
Who sees your look?
Everyone. Your character shows up in the online game lobby wearing the look you equipped, and other players see it change live if you pop into the wardrobe while they wait for you. Your emotes show up for every player in the game, and your victory animation plays on the podium when you win.
Want to try it? Start a game with your friends, open your emote wheel and hit them with a Floss while they hunt for the right delivery.
Frequently asked questions
Is the wardrobe free?
Yes. The wardrobe is open to everyone and a good chunk of the catalog is free: 4 skins, all the eyes, almost all the mouths, the classic mic and gloves, and the Wave emote. The rest is unlocked with coins, which you earn by playing.
Do cosmetics give an advantage in game?
No. They only change how your character looks. Your dubbing score and your place on the leaderboard depend only on your performance.
Do I need an account to use the wardrobe?
You can browse the catalog without an account, but you need to be signed in to equip a look, unlock an item and earn coins. Your style is then saved to your account.
How do I play an emote during a game?
Add the emote to your wheel in the Emotes tab of the wardrobe (up to 8). In an online game, press E to open the wheel or press 1 to 8 on your keyboard. On mobile, use the emote button.
How do I get a free emote?
Play 7 days in a row: for every 7-day streak, you pick a free emote from the ones you don't have yet.
Do I keep my items forever?
Yes. An unlocked item stays in your wardrobe, tied to your account. You can change your look as often as you like without losing anything.
