1. Data controller
TryToAct determines the purposes and means of processing the personal data collected through the website trytoact.com. For any question about your data: [email protected] or [email protected].
2. Data we process
In solo play, your voice recordings stay in your browser unless you choose to publish a dub. In multiplayer, recordings pass through the game server so the other players can hear them. The packs and dubs you publish are stored so they can be replayed. We also process your username, your avatar, your game statistics, a technical identifier and browsing data. If you create an account, we receive the information needed to sign in from the provider you choose. Any purchases go through Stripe; we do not receive your card number.
To create an account, we ask for your date of birth. It is never shown; it is used to check the minimum age, to offer news emails only from your country’s age of consent, and to show only non-personalised ads to players under 18.
When a copyright report is made, we record the name and email address of the person reporting, the reported link, the explanations and supporting documents provided, and the related decisions and exchanges. This information is accessible to the team handling the case and is used to examine the report, communicate the decision and handle a request for review. The case history is kept independently of the pack; deleting a pack does not delete the case.
3. Purposes and legal bases
Providing the dubbing service and saving your creations (performance of the service); measuring audience and improving the game (legitimate interest, via self-hosted Umami); ensuring security and preventing abuse (legitimate interest).
4. Advertising and cookies
To fund the hosting and development of the game, TryToAct plans to display ads provided by Google AdSense. The Google AdSense script is loaded on the site’s pages; no ads are being shown for now.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s previous visits to this website or other websites. Google’s advertising cookies enable it and its partners to serve ads based on those visits. You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google’s Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendors’ cookies at www.aboutads.info. Google explains how it uses this data on the page How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Before ads are switched on, a consent message will be set up for visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland: no advertising cookie will be placed without your consent, and you will be able to change your choice at any time. Without consent, only non-personalised ads may be shown.
Umami audience measurement, hosted on our infrastructure, does not set any cookie.
5. Processors and recipients
Hosting and delivery (infrastructure and CDN providers), media storage (an S3-compatible object storage provider), authentication (Google OAuth when you create an account), advertising (Google Ireland Limited, via Google AdSense). Umami is hosted on our infrastructure. These providers act only on our instructions. Some transfers outside the European Union may take place, governed by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
6. Retention period
Dubs and their associated statistics are kept for as long as the service is active or until you ask for them to be deleted. Account data is kept until the account is deleted. Audience measurement data is kept in aggregated or pseudonymised form for a maximum of 14 months.
7. Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability, as well as the right to withdraw your consent at any time. Write to [email protected]. You can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (www.cnil.fr).
If you have an account, the “Download my data” button in your account settings immediately provides a copy of your data (profile, coin balance and history, purchases, packs, metadata of your dubs, messages received) in a machine-readable JSON file. For each purchase, we also keep the date of your consent to immediate delivery and the version of the terms of sale you accepted.
8. Minors and changes
The game is open to everyone, with or without an account. You must be at least 13 to create an account. Below your country’s age of digital consent (13 to 16 in the European Union, 13 in the United Kingdom and the United States; GDPR article 8), features that rely on your consent, such as news emails, are not offered. Accounts under 18 only get non-personalised ads. This policy may be updated; the date of the latest revision prevails. For any question: [email protected].
