Publishing your dubs: daily limit, deleting and a star on your plate

Two posts a day, the option to take anything down, and one dub picked every day for our socials, with a star on your plate as the prize. Here's how publishing your dubs works on TryToAct.

How does publishing a dub work?

At the end of a game, solo or multiplayer, you can play back your dub and then publish it. One click on "Publish" and it's sent to "Other players' dubs", the feed where the whole community discovers the latest creations. After an automatic check, published dubs are also posted on our Discord.

Publishing requires an account. In solo, if you're playing as a guest, the publish window offers to sign you in without losing your dub. In multiplayer, sign in before the game starts to be able to publish at the end. Your account also gets you something extra: the star on your plate, more on that below.

If you leave the results screen without publishing, TryToAct asks you one last time. You can always answer "No thanks": nothing is published without your say-so.

Two posts a day

Every player can publish 2 dubs a day. The counter resets every night at midnight UTC: 8 p.m. on the US East Coast (7 p.m. in winter), 1 a.m. in the UK in summer (midnight in winter).

Once you've used your two posts, the "Publish" button is grayed out and the message "You've published your dubs for today" appears. You can keep playing as much as you like: only publishing has to wait for the next day.

Why a limit? To keep the feed varied, and to encourage you to save your best takes rather than publish everything.

Partner streamers get a higher limit, so they can publish the games they play live.

Deleting a post

A published dub isn't set in stone. You can remove it at any time, in two ways:

• in the My posts tab of the Packs page, which lists all your published dubs;

• directly in Other players' dubs: the trash icon appears on your own dubs.

You're asked to confirm, then the dub disappears from the feed for everyone.

Good to know: deleting a dub doesn't give you back a post for the day. If you published twice and then deleted one of them, you'll have to wait until midnight UTC to publish again.

One dub a day on our socials

Every day, the TryToAct team watches the published dubs and picks one to share on our TikTok and Instagram accounts.

No random draw, no algorithm: the team picks by hand. Only published dubs can be picked, so publishing is the only way to be in with a chance.

The star on your plate

If your dub is picked, you earn a gold star, placed above your rank plate. That plate is the one every player sees next to your character in multiplayer lobbies: the star shows everyone you've already had top billing.

That's exactly what the publish window shows you: your own plate in 3D, at your rank, with the star you can win.

The publish window: the 3D rank plate with the star you earn if your dub is picked

Stars add up: each picked dub adds one, with up to five shown above your plate.

When you earn one, an animation is waiting for you on your next visit to TryToAct, and you get an email to let you know. The star is tied to your account, which is one more reason publishing happens while signed in.

Frequently asked questions

How many dubs can I publish a day?

Two per player. The counter resets every night at midnight UTC (8 p.m. on the US East Coast in summer, 1 a.m. in the UK).

If I delete a dub, can I publish another one?

Not the same day: a deleted post still counts toward your daily limit. You get your two posts back after midnight UTC.

Do I need an account to publish?

Yes. In solo, the publish window lets you sign in without losing your dub. In multiplayer, sign in before the game starts. The account is also what receives the star if your dub is picked.

Where do published dubs appear?

In "Other players' dubs" on TryToAct, and on our Discord once the automatic check is done. You can delete them at any time.

How do I know if my dub was picked?

A star appears on your plate, an animation is waiting for you on your next visit and you get an email. The dub is also live on our TikTok and Instagram accounts.

How many stars can you have?

Each picked dub adds a star. Up to five are shown above your plate.
