How to make a dubbing pack: the complete guide
Import a video, cut it into scenes, assign the characters and publish your own pack for the community to dub in turn: here’s how TryToAct’s Creator mode works.
What is a pack on TryToAct?
A pack is a video cut into playable scenes: each scene has its own characters and its own lines, and any player can dub it independently. Packs can be shared between players: any creator can take a video they hold the rights or the necessary permissions for and turn it into a pack.
Step 1: Import a video
It all starts in Creator mode (the Studio), which you can open from the home page or by dropping a video file straight onto the site. Choose a video you made yourself or one you hold the rights or the necessary permissions for. A clip being available online is not enough to allow republishing it in a public pack.

Step 2: Cut the scenes and assign the characters
Once the video is imported, you cut the timeline into short scenes and name the characters who speak in each one. This is what later tells the game, in solo or multiplayer, who should dub which line.
No need to be accurate to the millisecond: what matters is that each scene stays short and easy to follow, so dubbing it stays fun rather than tedious.

Step 3: Publish the pack
When the cut is ready, you can put your pack online and share its link so other players can dub it, or keep it in your personal packs if you’d rather play it alone or with friends.
A pack you put online comes with a link to share. Players who download it can import it and play it solo or in multiplayer.
Packs put online may be reviewed by the moderation team. If you find content that infringes your rights, see the reporting procedure in the site’s information pages.
Tips for a great pack
A few tips that make the difference between a pack people replay and one they skip:
- Go for short scenes (a few lines) rather than a long monologue: they’re easier to dub and funnier to replay.
- Pick clips with clear sound: dialogue that’s easy to follow without the original audio is easier to dub.
- Use several characters from the same video: it makes the pack more fun in multiplayer, when the roles are shared out between players.
- Give your pack a clear title, so it’s easy to spot in the library.
Frequently asked questions
How many scenes can I put in a pack?
As many as you like: some community packs have more than 30 scenes. Many short scenes work better than one long clip, though.
Can I edit a pack after publishing it?
Yes, you can go back and change the cut, the characters or the title of your own packs at any time.
Do I have to publish my pack to play it?
No, you can keep a pack in your personal creations and play it solo or with invited friends, without making it public.
