Games like Mimic Party: 7 imitation and dubbing games to play with friends
Mimic Party brought back a genre that had been around for a while: the mic imitation game. If you're looking for something similar, because your friends don't have Steam, there are too many of you or you just want some variety, here are seven games that hit the same note. Some have you imitate sounds, others voices, others whole scenes.
The short answer
The best games like Mimic Party in 2026 are: Mimic Party itself (paid, 5 players), TryToAct's Battle mode (free, browser, 12 players), PartyDub (browser, free with a supporter tier), Dub Together (Steam, scene dubbing), What The Dub?! (written dubbing), The Choicer Voicer (voice impressions, itch.io) and TryToAct's dubbing mode. For a big group with nothing to install, pick a browser game; for 5 players who all have Steam, Mimic Party.

How we picked
We kept the games where your voice is the controller: you listen, you reproduce, and someone (an AI, judges or your friends) decides whether you nailed it. Each time we give the price, platform and player count, because that's often what decides it for a game night. The information comes from official pages and store listings in October 2026.
Note: TryToAct is our game. We put it on the list because it answers the question, but we've tried to stay honest about what the others do better.
1. Mimic Party: the benchmark
The game that started the craze this fall, published by the French studio FoliesApp (official page). A reference sound, one take, an AI that scores melody, rhythm and attacks, and a sabotage wheel between rounds. It's paid on Steam, free with in-app purchases on mobile, available in English, and plays with 1 to 5 people online. Best for: groups of 5 or fewer who all own the game.
2. TryToAct, Battle mode: the free browser version
Our Battle mode takes Mimic Party's concept, with four judges scoring each take out of 10 in a 3D theater. The sound packs cover memes, TV shows, gaming and animals, and every player can make their own. Each round, a power-up card can win you one or two points, never lose you any. Best for: big groups (up to 12) and people who don't want to install anything. All the details are in our article on the free Mimic Party alternative.

3. PartyDub: imitation and dubbing in the browser
PartyDub also has a browser sound imitation mode, with a score out of 100, and a dubbing mode where the host uploads their own clips. It's free for the basics, with a supporter tier that unlocks bigger rooms and some extra modes. Best for: groups who want both imitation and dubbing on one site.
4. Dub Together: scene dubbing on Steam
A dubbing game released on Steam in September 2026 and very well reviewed by players. Everyone dubs the same clip and then votes for the best take, or everyone records a line in turn to build a scene. It has voice effects, Workshop packs and Twitch chat voting (Steam page). Best for: people who'd rather act out scenes than imitate sounds.
5. What The Dub?!: the written-dubbing classic
The party game where you write lines for B-movie clips. It's not a mic game (you type your lines), but the spirit is the same: hijack a scene and make the room laugh. Best for: Jackbox fans.
6. The Choicer Voicer: judged voice impressions
A small indie game sold on itch.io, where you imitate audio clips and a virtual judge panel scores your performance. Watch out for the free browser sites that borrow its name: they aren't the official game. Best for: people who'd rather imitate voices than noises.
7. TryToAct's dubbing mode: imitate a whole scene
Once you've done the rounds of sounds, move on to the next step: dub a real movie or TV scene, in sync with the picture, with an accuracy score on your rhythm and intonation. You can play solo or in multiplayer against your friends. Best for: people who want to act, not just make noises.
Which one should you pick?
• There are 5 or fewer of you and everyone has Steam: Mimic Party.
• There are more than 5 of you, or someone doesn't have the game: TryToAct's Battle mode.
• You want imitation and your own dubbing clips on one site: PartyDub.
• You want to act out scenes: Dub Together or TryToAct's dubbing mode.
• You're playing on a Discord call: a browser game, so everyone clicks the link and plays in ten seconds. We list more in our browser party games.
